Day One in the Gratitude Community

I started my gratitude journal last night. Wow. I could hardly stop writing once I started. What was I writing? Gifts. Specifically, God's gifts. To me. They are almost too numerous to count. And yet I find that as I begin to tangibly recognize them, I begin to see many more that were not in focus before.

Long into the night, after I had turned out the lights, my journal closed, my mind was flooding, spilling over, as gift after gift after gift came in to focus. Beautiful gifts. Precious gifts. God's gifts. To me.

When I woke this morning, I looked over to a sleepy little baby, rousing from sleep. He blinked open his eyes, my face coming into focus. Recognition comes over him. Mama. His face almost cracks open, his smile is so wide. My heart aches with joy. And I remember. This, too, is a gift.

His gifts are all around us.
If we only take the time to see them.
