Lavender Lemonade

It is stifling hot in the deep south, and I have decided it is that time where we reserve actual cooking to outdoors so as to not heat up the house, and am dragging out my cold supper recipes. And this darling recipe is one I love to make every summer, compliments of my very dear friend, Amanda.

Lavender Lemonade
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recipe By: Amanda adapted from Cooking Light
Serving Size: 0

Ingredients:

4 cups water, divided
1/4 cup dried lavender flours, lavandula augustifolia
2/3 cup sugar
1 cup fresh lemon juice, (about 6 lemons)
lavender stems

Directions:

Bring one cup of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Combine the boiling water and lavender in a medium bowl; cover and steep for 30 minutes. Strain the lavender mixture through a fine sieve into a bowl; discard the lavender flowers.
Combine 3 cups water and sugar in saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, and cook 1 minute or until sugar is dissolved. Combine lavender water, sugar syrup, and lemon juice in pitcher. Cover and chill. Serve over ice. Garnish lemonade with lavender stems, if desired.

Enjoy, kind friends!

We have a patch of lavender in our little garden. I'll be excited to try this recipe.
