When Demons Whisper

"You'll never be happy
never taste joy"
and job, hobbies, relationships, possessions
will only fail to satisfy...

Hunger finds a home
in soul which must feed on more
than just bread alone
But from the words of His mouth

Starving, famished
the malnourished spirit
desperately searches,
listens...

And vulnerable, soulish-ears
hear voices
full of promises, false hopes
like the sirens of old,
their evil melodies
lead toward certain death

Yet here on the brink,
staring death in the face,
numb and unfazed and emotionless,
this gripping gaze possesses

And the only fear,
for the moment,
is to be shaken free
from this seemingly beautiful temptation;
to awaken, to feel loss, despair, shame

Perhaps sweet little lies are more appealing than truth?

The Two-Edged Sword
which divides bone from marrow
cuts the tie
and waits...

The One who disciplines
yearns to love again,
for He is Love
To bring healing, wholeness

To restore what the locusts have destroyed

To infuse hope, true hope
To bring beauty from the ash heap

Incline your ears,
your heart,
to His words
which, like balm

after the stinging

will soothe, protect, heal...

A beautiful disaster
this repentance life
this restoration life

The paradoxical truth
that in brokenness
we are made whole

In weakness, strong

In discouragement, hopeful

In sin, forgiven

By Grace Alone

When we are weak He is made strong...it is a beautiful paradox, isn't it?

  2. Yes, I see how He is using my own brokenness in this moment to make me perfect in weakness, to put me back together so that I might be stronger in Him.

  4. The balm that stings and then soothes...Oh I need to to read the Word and yet I am afraid of that sting...But only there will I find grace.
