God speaks

I didn't make it this morning to meet with the church for worship. I'd really wanted to go but woke up hacking and didn't want to risk getting anyone sick, so I stayed home and listened to more of the audio messages from the online discipleship course I'm taking. It was very, very good.

I've taken a ton of vitamin c and drank lots of fluids and rested. I'm hoping to shake this soon and not have to take antibiotics. They always seem to mess up the balance of my system.

I cut Aiden and Owen's hair today. I actually trimmed just a teeny bit of Ella Grace's hair too. They all turned out nice and it made them look a little more groomed and a little less like ragamuffins. :) We had pot roast for dinner, compliments of our slow cooker, with broccoli and little red potatoes. Very nice. I'm drinking a second pot of Rooibos tea with lemon myrtle in it, which is supposed to be very alkalizing and packed with antioxidants. It seems to calm my cough, which is an added bonus. I've got my electric blanket pulled out and am curled up under it. And I'm shopping online, trying to find a good pair of alpaca mittens that convert to fingerless gloves, in a neutral color. My hands have been so cold....

We are behind on laundry. We especially need to do loads of towels. I dried the baby off with one of the mister's tee shirts. Or he did rather. I'm getting close to needing more clean undies, so something really must be done.

I can't find the journal I've been writing in so I've simply pulled out another. I'm sure the other one will turn up eventually, but in the meantime, God has been speaking truth into my heat and I want to record it. I have this tendency to forget...

I was praying last night, telling God about a situation/relationship I was unsure about, pouring out my thoughts and concerns. After a bit, I realized that I hadn't even come up for air, that I had been monolouging. So I stopped and asked God what He thought about it.

He answered immediately. There was literally no pause in between my question and His answer. He told me, "Remember Lot's wife." It sunk in immediately.

For those who aren't familiar with the biblical story, in the book of Genesis, God decided He was going to destroy the city of Sodom because of the wickedness of the people inhabiting it. But before He did, He sent two angels to rescue Lot and his family and get them to safety. The angels told them one thing: Don't look back.

Lot's wife did and she became a pillar of salt.

Sounds crazy, right?

But there it is. God went to great lengths to rescue me from destruction and is telling me not to look back. Only go forward, in the power of His Spirit.

  1. Hi AD! I hope you stayed warm all day and I pray your cough is short-lived. Take care, good mama.

  2. Isn't it amazing when God answers us that way? It's so immediate, and so not-what-my-brain-would-think-of, and so right. It doesn't happen to me every day, but it's so wonderful when it does! Glad he answered you.
