I have never been very "technologically-savvy". I freely admit that. At the same time, I have never felt completely comfortable with those who shun all technological advances. I mean, I am comfortable with the people. The people are lovely. But the stance they take is one I am not sure fits every one.
I think technology CAN be used for good. I have beautiful friends who use their websites and blogs and online stores to proclaim the gospel, to share Jesus, to bless. And I think it is wonderful.
But I won't deny I am not entirely comfortable in the online community.
Just the wording- interNET, world wide WEB... leaves the impression that you can easily be caught, trapped, snared.
And many are.
Just today, entirely by accident (and with good filters in place!) I stumbled upon an atrocious site. Despicable. I won't even repeat what I saw there, except to say I prayed afterwards God would cleanse my mind of those images.
It makes me sad. Frustrated. Concerned.
I don't have a whole lot of answers. I mainly just want to say, be careful, friends. It is a dangerous world out there. Pray. Seek God. And remember not to set any evil thing before your eyes.
Psalm 101 stands out in my heart.
Let us keep our hearts pure before Him, beloved.
Yes, it is crazy what is out there in the world wide web. Some of the ads on some blogs are almost as bad. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteYes! I have had the same experience. My only internet involvement is with Christian community. When I have ventured out of that accidently I have been so shocked by what is "out there".
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because I was having this same conversation with my husband the other day. About the words Net and Web and how easy it can be to become entangled and caught up.
WE need to focus on Him first and foremost. From His feet our steps will be directed.
I'm reminded also of Saint Paul's exortation. "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."
