Phone Prayers

This evening, after my husband went to work, I washed up the dinner dishes and fed the baby and then decided it might be a good time {while some of the other kiddos were doing their chores} to make a few phone calls. Lately, I have been feeling that I should make it a priority to pray with others more.

I called a couple of my awesome friends, and yes, we prayed.

But you know what they heard going on on my end?

Ella crying and fussing because for whatever reason she has decided to be good and ticked between 6 and 9 p.m. {Friends, I feed her and rock her and walk her and bounce her and you know what? It makes very little difference.} Kids fighting over whose turn it was on the gameboy. Owen slamming the blessed microwave door over and over as he opened it, put Josiah's mp3 player in it, and closed it again. {Thankfully he didn't try to turn the microwave ON} But still, he slammed the door HARD. Loud.

I had kiddos who needed diaper changers, or taken to the potty. Children coming to ask me to break up fights, settle disputes, and enact justice upon their erring siblings. Over and over and over.

All in the course of a couple of 15 minute phone calls.

Yet, somehow, we pushed through. We prayed. We lifted one another up before the throne. And at the end of the conversation, I felt peace, not frustration.

Holy paradox, Batman,

And thank you, Jesus.

You fill me up when I am empty.
